At the request of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) GlaxoSmithKline has agreed only to make claims that can be substantiated by valid testing methods, to stop making any false representations about the vitamin C content of their Ribena products, and to place notices in retail outlets advising consumers of the allegedly misleading information.

It is interesting to note that GlaxoSmithKline in their promotional advertising state “Ribena uses approximately 70% of the annual NZ blackcurrant crop. New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia all use the concentrated blackcurrant juice made from this crop. Blackcurrants in Ribena contain nearly four times the vitamin C of oranges. Each serving of Ribena Concentrate provides at least a full days' vitamin C requirement (100% of the Recommended Daily Allowance). Ribena contains no artificial flavors’, colours or sweeteners. Well Well! New Zealanders who have been buying this fallacy laden drink for their children have been severely missing out on all the so called “dangerous” vitamins that the pharmaceutical/government controlled media have been touting lately.

It is crystal clear from where I am sitting that this is another example of the many Australian Therapeutic Goods Authority, the Australian Food Authority’s and not to mention our own New Zealand Food Standards Authority’s flagrant violation of the public trust, a common theme that reveals that the management of these Government Agencies are cozily in bed with the pharmaceutical companies and are in fact operating as one team.

Naively, most New Zealanders and Australians think their government agencies are protecting them from harm. However for those of us who can see what is really happening, clearly it is the fox that has the keys to the hen house.

Perhaps just perhaps, one day (soon I hope) the Australasian people will wake up and wise up and start replacing these corrupt agencies with some honest, independent men and women who will work to restore honor and integrity.

The Freedom of Choice campaign continued to roll out recently to combat the introduction of the legislation to enact the Australia New Zealand Therapeutic Goods Authority, with a march up Queen Street Auckland on Saturday 24th March.

This march was organised by Nicola Grace with the assistance of a great number of people far too many to mention however we acknowledge the support of well-known New Zealand celebrities Allison Roe Christine Rankin and Lana Lopez who are publicly supporting the freedom of choice in healthcare for all New Zealanders. Further marches are planned in the next few months nation wide. We would like to give a big thank you to Nicola for all her efforts. After the very vocal march up Queen Street a gathering was held in Myers Park where Sue Kedgley Health Spokesperson for the Green Party supported by Keith Locke Green MP), Taito Philip Field (Independent MP), Wayne Mapp National Party, Ken McIver Charter Government Liaison Officer and Patrick Fahy CEO New Zealand Charter of Health Practitioners, spoke of the need to stop the legislation currently before parliament as it interferes with our privacy and the right to choose. The theme of the speeches was clearly that several hundred health products will disappear from health food store, pharmacy and practitioners shelves if the joint agency manifests.

It is deplorable that our pharmaceutically-hijacked government is intending to implement and enforce regulations that will severely limit one's ability to maintain or regain one's health - by limiting access to essential nutrients, while vigorously promoting and legislating reliance on the very pharmaceutical-sickness-industry that is at the root of the problem.

Sue Kedgley, Taito Philip Field and Wayne Mapp all reiterated that the New Zealand public has been (duped) deceived by government officials. These very special politicians who gave their time to march up Queen Street urged all New Zealanders to make a stand for their own health and the health of their children and grandchildren. It was also made clear during the speeches that we must break and reverse the stranglehold that the pharmaceutical sickness-industry exercises over our health.
