When the “Charter” is strong our Professions are Strong
	At our Annual General Meeting held recently we discussed the issue of responding to articles printed in the media attacking natural healthcare therapies, stating that there is no evidence and proof that our therapies and medicines work. When this situation occurs a number of people quickly write letters to the editor of these newspapers.
Unfortunately majority of these letters of response will contain a similar theme ultimately defending natural healthcare therapies. We should always keep in mind that all newspaper articles and television clips claim that there is no level of evidence either historical or scientific that our therapies work. Newspaper reporters are trained to construct articles that are not only controversial but sensational to appear to show two sides to an argument. There is of course nothing wrong with replying with combative responses however we must always keep in mind that all original prompted articles are written by the hand of supporters of ‘the drug model or orthodox medicine’ and when we respond to these articles we often fail to remind the readers that the perpetrators or authors of the original material will certainly have some sort of conflict of interest and/or vested interest. These authors always appear to be very serious critics, people with important statements to view their concerns, however the fact is that these, rather shallow misguided ignorant ignoramus individuals are guided entirely by vested interests. “How ironic that in the same week that renewed doubts emerge about the safety of Teflon (1), that Hamilton should vote to fluoridate its water supply”, says Fluoride Action Network spokesperson Caren McConnell.

PFOA, per-fluoro-octanoic acid (aka “C8”) from Telfon, is toxic when inhaled and persists in the environment. These compounds (also found in the controversial Scotchguard) have been detected in the blood of children throughout the States as well as in animals at both North and South Poles.

Although PFOAs and the hydrofluosilicic acid (HFA) added to water supplies are different, they illustrate an important point that many Hamiltonians obviously missed: ALL fluoride compounds are toxic. None are ‘nutritious’.

Fluorine is the most electronegative of all the Elements and is extremely reactive - it is not a “passive spectator” of chemical reactions (2). In Nature fluorine is bound safely in rock minerals, but is liberated by heavy industry – particularly aluminium smelting and phosphate fertiliser manufacture. HFA is the concentrated toxic waste product from the latter (3).

“Both Teflon and HFA have sordid histories initiated by corporate greed, but sanctioned by government (4). New Zealanders are urged to read Christopher Bryson’s investigative expose` ‘The Fluoride Deception’ to understand how corporate America gave fluoride’s image the Ultimate Makeover and ‘sold’ it to the world (5). NZ is one of the very few remaining nations that practices fluoridation, and with an official fervour bordering on the obsessive.

Combustible Towels - beware!!

Recently one of our Practitioners had a nasty experience with ‘hot towels’. Many Practitioners who are in the field of massage use towels. In this instance the towels were washed and dried in a hot dryer then ‘rolled’ tightly and placed on a shelf in the clinic. The person went out and while away, the towels slowly smouldered, eventually bursting into flames and burning down the clinic! Not an experience anyone would savour! The Fire Dept explained that this was actually a common occurrence with people who use hot dryers and then fold towels away in cupboards or shelves. Advisable to ensure towels are well cooled before rolling or folding away!

NHS told to abandon alternative medicine!!
A GROUP of Britains leading doctors has urged every NHS trust to stop paying for alternative medicine and to use the money for conventional treatments.
